Davies has a Design degree and MA in Fine Art, both from Sheffield Hallam University and worked as a freelance Graphic Designer and lecturer for Sheffield Hallam, Huddersfield and Leeds Metropolitan Universities before moving to Bristol to undertake her postgraduate studies in Fine Art Video, Media, Place and Identity at UWE.

Her current research title, Critical Distance: Digital video montage and the defamiliarization of the border, focuses on the definition of the term border within the wider debate on border space. The research focuses upon whether digital video montage can account for actual lived experience of dwelling within a shifting border threshold. By analysing video montage as a device within artist film and video, both practice based and theoretical research will explore how montage could challenge conventional interpretations of border to produce an alternative assessment especially when applied to the notion of psychological borders.
